    Frequently Asked Questions:

    What shoes do we wear?
Running shoes or hiking boots are fine for all the hikes. Tevas are fine for the rainforest treks, but not for anything strenuous or mountainous - unless you have strong feet. Your shoes may get muddy or dirty on any of the hikes.

    What clothes should we wear?
Shorts and short-sleeved shirts are best for most hikes. Haleakala Crater and the Cloud Forest hikes are often cool, so a jacket, down vest, sweatshirt or sweater is recommended.

Do we need to bring anything?
A towel, if the hike includes swimming, and sunscreen (if you choose to swim).

    Are there mosquitoes?
In the rain forests, yes. In Haleakala Crater, the coastal areas and the Cloud Forest, no. We bring mosquito repellent, but bring your own, if you prefer a particular brand.

    Should we bring water?
No. We provide water, backpacks, rain gear, water shoes, insect repellent and first aid equipment.

What will we get for a snack?
    Enjoy fresh Hawaiian fruit.

Should we bring a camera and film?
Yes. There will be many photo opportunities on this hike.

Will there be a bathroom on the trail?
In most cases, no. If you're uncomfortable using the bushes, please let us know when you, and we'll see if the guide can make a bathroom stop before we reach the trailhead.

Fantastic! Guide was unbelievable. Already sent via email my delight with him and the tour, but glad to say it again. It was truly one of the highlights, if not THE highlight, of our first trip to Maui! Because of his personal knowledge and excitement, I'm guessing that I would be disappointed with another guide if we were to go again. Hopefully, the others are as knowledgeable as he. Thanks and glad to promote your tour to anyone!

We had an amazing time with our guide! We learned so much about Maui history and agriculture. The hike was our favorite Maui activity and we've loved showing friends the pictures of us playing the waterfalls. My parent's were vacationing in Maui 3 weeks after us and they signed up for the same hike and loved it, too. I will recommend this activity to anyone visiting Maui!

The waterfalls were great. Although I thought the guide was condescending at times.

The main reason for the low rating is that I found the description of the hike did not match my expectations and I generally did not enjoy it, apart from the sense of achievement at the end. The hike was rated moderate, which usually means 6 to 8 miles with some ascents over uneven ground. I am reasonably fit and had walked 10 km the weekend before my vacation. This hike however involved very narrow paths, crossing streams and clambering over rocks. When we reached the waterfall I was unable to scoot down the steep rockface so could not join the group. If you want some pleasant walks I would suggest the Haleakala Crater or Iao Valley where there are some great views along well structured paths. The guide however was excellent , friendly and helpful. He dealt well with another member of our group who did not want to participate and with myself, who needed assistance in places.
